As the world economy continues to flounder and the amount of available money for the average household to earn seems to become smaller and smaller it begins to make more and more practical sense to start saving money wherever you can. And making clothes to save money can be a great way to start.

Many of us simply throw away clothes that we no longer want, wear or fit. The clothing itself is often in great condition. There is no reason why, with a bit of reinventing, that item of clothing could not find a new lease on life as a piece of some other household members wardrobe.

With a growing market of mass produced clothing it seems to be getting harder and harder to find things that allow you to stamp your own individual personality on the world. Material in comparison is still reasonably priced and these days comes in such a wide range of colors and styles that you can create any number of beautiful one off pieces that can reflect you.

If you are a reasonably good sewer, chances are that you are going to be proud of what you produce. Having pride in your clothing is going to make you more likely to wear it, more than once. Which in turn, is going to reduce the amount of clothing that sits in your closet year after year purchased but never worn.
